Vintage Reddish Brown Mother Of Pearl Inlay Half Round Console Altar Table GB116S

  • $ 3,20000

This elegant vintage Chinese rosewood display stand, crafted in the late Republic period, embodies the refined artistry of traditional southern Chinese furniture. Its demi-lune top is exquisitely inlaid with shimmering mother-of-pearl, depicting a delicate garden scene of blossoming prunus, peonies, and birds in flight, centered around an auspicious longevity symbol and surrounded by swirling clouds and foliage. The deep burgundy rosewood, worn to a soft patina through decades of gentle use, features intricately carved openwork aprons with scrolling vines and floral motifs that echo the inlay above. Gracefully cabriole legs, subtly mimicking bamboo, taper downward to delicate upturned feet, while three descending tiers of ever-smaller shelves spiral gently beneath the top, creating a harmonious, almost sculptural silhouette. The piece bears the gentle traces of time (softened edges, faint losses to some pearl inlays, and a rich, warm glow) that only enhance its quiet dignity and timeless beauty.
