Commentary: Because Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva's 觀世音菩薩 merits are great compassion, he will take the forty-eight oaths to eliminate the ignorance and delusion caused by his karma and save the world's people from the three troubles.

However, karma is created so quickly that it is impossible to save. In despair, he destroys his oath and breaks his sentence into ten pieces, and his skill into thousands of pieces. Fortunately, his guru Amitabha 阿彌陀佛 used his magical power to combine the fragments into ten faces and then added Amitabha himself to form eleven faces. Thousands of pieces of skill turned into

A thousand hands and a thousand eyes. Don't retreat from the Taoist mind and resolve the case with great compassion.

The eleven-faced Avalokitesvara cuts off the eleven ignorances and attains the eleventh level of Buddhahood. It is also composed of the three bodies of Dharma, Retribution, and Transformation. The nine faces on the lower three levels are the nine incarnation Buddhas. The fourth level is Sambhogakaya Vajrapani 報身佛金剛手. On the top is the Dharmakaya Buddha Amitabha Tathagata 阿彌陀如來 .

The mantra of Avalokitesvara with Thousand Arms and Thousand Eyes is the famous "Great Compassionate Mind" 大悲心陀,羅尼 " is also called the Great Compassion Mantra 大悲咒.
