Oriental Metal Bronze Kannon Guan Yin Bodhisattva Holding Lotus Statue GB152S
This striking, gilt-finished statue depicts Kannon (Guanyin), the Bodhisattva of Compassion, standing in a serene and upright posture. Rendered in a traditional Japanese aesthetic, the figure is crowned with an ornate, high-relief headdress and backed by a large, flame-bordered mandorla (halo) featuring intricate scrolling cloud patterns. Kannon holds a slender, budding lotus stalk in one hand—a symbol of purity and spiritual awakening—while the other hand rests gracefully at the side. The deity is draped in flowing, classical robes that cling to the form in a style reminiscent of the Asuka or Nara periods, further emphasized by a decorative pectoral necklace.
The entire piece sits atop a multi-tiered lotus throne, which rests on a hexagonal base decorated with relief panels. While the statue exudes a timeless, antique gold appearance with a weathered patina, a small "Made in Japan" sticker on the underside and the visible seams in the casting suggest it is a high-quality 20th-century vintage replica or devotional piece rather than an ancient artifact.
