Chinese Chocolate Brown Yixing Zisha Clay Teapot Characters Accent GB328S
This Chinese Yixing Zisha clay teapot showcases a sophisticated blend of traditional craftsmanship and poetic artistry. Hand-carved from a rich, dark chocolate-toned stoneware with a subtle, pear-skin texture, the teapot features a classic compressed globular body. The lid is surmounted by a masterfully sculpted Bixie or Qilin finial, serving as both a functional handle and a protective guardian figure. One side of the vessel is delicately incised with a graceful orchid motif, symbolizing nobility and integrity in Chinese culture. The reverse side features an elegant calligraphic inscription of a famous Tang Dynasty poem by Wang Changling: "一片冰心在玉壺" (A piece of ice heart in a jade pot), a metaphor for a person’s pure and untarnished character.
The craftsmanship extends to the functional elements, including a curved spout designed for a smooth pour and a sturdy C-shaped handle with a thumb rest for ergonomic balance. The underside bears a crisp, four-character seal mark, "陳子制匋" (Chen Zi Zhi Tao), attributing the piece to the workshop of the maker Chen Zi. This teapot is not only a functional vessel for tea connoisseurs but also a profound scholar’s object, perfect for display in a Zen-inspired setting or a collection of fine Asian decorative arts.
