Chinese Yellow Base Hexagon Canton Famille Rose Porcelain Art Vase GB312S
This is a Chinese-style hexagonal porcelain vase, characterized by its vibrant yellow ground and ornate "famille rose" (fencai) palette. The vessel features a flared rim, a tapering neck adorned with gilded chilong (dragon) handles, and a bulbous body that rests on a stepped pedestal base. Its surface is densely decorated with a millefleurs or "thousand flowers" inspired motif, featuring scrolling vines, lotus blossoms, and peaches—symbols of longevity—rendered in pink, blue, and green enamels. The focal point of the vase is a large, lobed medallion on the front, which depicts a narrative scene: an elder figure in traditional blue robes conversing with a child in a garden setting, framed by bamboo and rocky outcrops. The interior of the neck and the underside are glazed in a contrasting turquoise enamel, a common feature of mid-to-late 20th-century decorative export ware. On the base, there is a blue underglaze seal mark in seal script (zhuanshu), intended to emulate the Qianlong period style (1736-1795), though the execution and vibrant enamel colors suggest it is a more modern decorative piece.
