This blue and white ceramic ginger jar is a classic example of traditional Chinese pottery, featuring a stout, globular body and a flat-topped lid. The vessel is decorated with a vibrant cobalt blue underglaze, depicting a lively scene of figures and mythical creatures. On the front, two figures are shown alongside a Qilin—a legendary hooved chimerical creature—set against a backdrop of stylized pine trees and a lattice-patterned fence. The lid is adorned with a matching cloud-like pine motif, while a geometric diamond band encircles the shoulder of the jar. The glaze shows a subtle, aged patina with minor imperfections, and the unglazed rim of the jar reveals a pale, stony clay body, suggesting a piece crafted in the traditional folk kiln style.
