The primary motif on the top of the lid and around the body is a charming composition of peonies or chrysanthemums (symbols of wealth and honor) paired with a small bird (often symbolizing happiness or a long-lasting marriage). A notable feature is the inscription on the lid, which appears to be the name and location of the workshop (possibly reading "廣州街" which translates to Guangzhou Street, indicating a Cantonese origin). The basket is secured by a sturdy, arched handle painted with stylized floral or knot designs, and the interior is finished in a contrasting high-gloss black lacquer, revealing a small gold motif on the bottom.
